The 075 prefix identifies Iberia as the issuing carrier for the air waybill, followed by eight digits comprising a 7-digit serial number and a final check digit. The check digit is calculated using mod-7 arithmetic — dividing the 7-digit serial number by 7 and using only the remainder (0-6). For example, if the serial is 1234567, dividing by 7 gives remainder 6, making the complete AWB 075-12345676. This prefix ensures the shipment is routed through IAG Cargo's network and handled according to Iberia's procedures.

IAG Cargo handles pharmaceuticals, perishables, and live animals, offering temperature-controlled shipping options with proper temperature management during transit to preserve cargo quality. Their Critical premium service for time-sensitive shipments increased 41% in 2025, demonstrating expertise in high-priority cargo.

In June 2025, IAG Cargo announced plans for a Global Cargo Joint Business with Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo, subject to regulatory approval, aimed at creating one of the world's most extensive air cargo networks with improved connectivity and more consistent service across regions.
