The AWB prefix 105 uniquely identifies Finnair as the operating carrier and is Finnair's assigned IATA airline code for Air Waybill numbering purposes. Following the prefix is a 7-digit serial number that identifies the specific shipment, plus a final check digit calculated using the mod-7 method (the serial number divided by 7, remainder only). This AWB numbering system ensures proper routing through Finnair's cargo network and determines which carrier handles the shipment from origin to destination.

Finnair holds IATA CEIV Pharma certification for handling temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments. CEIV is the IATA-administered audit standard that validates a carrier's end-to-end cold-chain procedures, staff training, and facilities against pharma-grade requirements.

Finnair transports live animals under the IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR), which govern container, ventilation, and species-specific handling requirements for livestock, day-old chicks, zoo animals, household pets, and laboratory animals. Bookings require species-specific documentation and approved containers; book through the cargo team with at least 48 hours notice.

Finnair Cargo specialises in temperature-controlled cargo, such as pharmaceuticals as well as seafood and other perishables.
